good idea. shouldnt i have drilled those holes before hand though? so the outer tubing is the only one with a hole? or should I drill clean through from one side to the other and weld a piece of round bar in there tieing it all together.

Drilling before hand would've made life easy, now it'll make life interesting :D

With a bit of patience, you can drill through just one layer. Don't drill right through; the holes will be a pita to fill.

Top & bottom would be the best place, that's where most of the stress will be...

So I ordered a 44c driver from mfg. They send me an email saying they do not have them in stock and they are on backorder. They do not know when they will be getting them in, because of the new maker of comet something or another ...... so who makes them now? And would they still be considered comet if comet is no longer in business? I'm confused and would like to get a TC. What are my best options?

got the frame back from the blaster today, time to start rolling on it now. I cut off and grinded down all the bracket tabs that I will no longer be using, atleast all the ones I know of for now. to make for a ckleaner job. The cross tube I cut out behine the seats I welded the holes in the ends of the tubes and grinded those down clean too. I had to notch out the rear cross tube to clear the spark plug when the shocks are completly compressed. I will take some more detail pictures of that I think it came out pretty cool. I notched it out, cut a piece of tubing the size of the tubing width. I welded it in, cut off the excess and grinded it all clean.

Looking good. What did they charge to sandblast it? Pick a color yet?

I have some connections :D it was free.99  I did get a quote on it from a different company that does only blasting, the guy told me without seeing it, I was looking on a high scale of 150.00, he said if it was easier than expected and it took him less time, he would just charge me whatever it was. but no higher than 150.00. As far as a color, Not sure yet. I showed my wife the picture of it blasted and she liked that color. So I dont know, maybe grey? I am going to paint it with bedliner. I can get the kits for 99 bucks, and you just add whatever acrylic enamel you want to get the color you are looking for. Its the same price for just black liner.

Coming along, Not sure if I will get a chance to work on it much tomorrow, i have some work to do early am. thats usually the time I use to work on the kart. The Copper looking color on the back end of the kart is a weld through primer. Keep posted.

You might wanna keep going with that; the first drop of rain will turn that thing brown... & it doesn't even need to be in the rain, the moisture in the air will do it...:worried2:

yeah I'm going to. I just thought I really dont need to use the weld through primer on the entire thing. just on some areas that I am planning on doing some more welding. then I got to welding the seat mounts in, and then it was time to start work. I'll get to it.

:iagree: After i sand blast metal or sand i always put a coat of primer on it because it will start to rust over night where i live anyway...

Just keep that in mind but other then that this build is going great, i can't wait to see it finished you'll have a top end cart.
