The copper tube on the chain guard is where oil goes for the clutch. This is so that I don't have to take guard off each time I oil the clutch.

motor and chain tensioner

I welded two nuts for 3/8 bolts. With the motor mount bolts lose I can screw the 3/8 bolts up against the block so that the chain gets tight. Then tighten the motor mount bolts. Its so much better than holding the motor to tighten the chain while bolting down the motor. If the chain stretches all I need to do is screw in the 3/8 bolts up to the motor block to tighten the chain.

oil tube

pics of oil tube mounted on clutch brake and chain guard mount. I'm new at posting pics I hope I did it wright this time.

scrub brakes

The scrub brakes don't to good but with the clutch brake together its ok

shoe box frame

The frame looks like shoe box shape but still fast and fun. I'll have more info later.

Oh that's cool... I like the oiler spout...
What you need for that now is.... Is a Trico oil dripper....No Oil can to pack around... And you can oil it as necessary on the fly...


I have one and keep meaning to mount it to my bike...

This being my first build I really didn't know how things would turn out or what it would look like. Plus I thought I could add some experiments to the project. It looks funny but everything works. I didn't know anything about clutches so I got a cheap one. Every time I rode the bike the clutch made squeaky sounds and I was tiered of taking chain guard off to oil the clutch so I made an oil tube.

I like the oiler idea very much! Nice innovation and while the factory type automatic oil dripper Mckutzy shared is nice, the way you did yours (custom) has a cleaner, less bulky appearance. It doesn't eliminate the maintenance interval, it just directs the oil right to the clutch bushing.

Mckutzy: is that oil dripper rate-adjustable and can it be turned off completely? I would want a very slow drip for the clutch.

One of those would be useful for the chain too. :thumbsup:

Yes they're on/off... And adjustable for rate...
But really for what ever rate they are a few drips in the sight glass will put the same amount at the bush... You only need a few drops...
They come in all sorts of capacity aswell.

I like the idea of the bolts set up to move the engine to tighten the chain. Seems like it would a be a great way to keep the engine squared up to the frame when you adjust it too. Well done!

Thanks the bolts work very well for me. I had a very hard time trying to line up the motor and tighten the chain do to the disability in my right hand. It took a little while to come up with the bolt idea. On my next builds that I'm working on I am using a single piece of angle iron. I've drilled and taped two 3/8" holes and welded it on. It works much better for me, it was harder welding the two little bolts.

With this set-up you can weld it on or drill and bolt it on, I too went through some trial and error.

The reason I made this was because of people coming into my shop with a brand new factory kart and could not keep the chain on it after very little use.

This device also keeps the engine from vibrating backwards and loosening the chain. It also makes tightening the chain a breeze. I have sold alot of these on ebay back in the 1990's. I called it the Snug-A-Bug.

I posted this on here before when someone was asking for help with their chain coming off.

Wow that looks cool. I like the way that it can be welded or bolted on. This way you can take it off and reuse on other frames if needed.

little help

I have a kangchao ssr sr150-tx and cant for the life of me find a clutch cable. It broke off and all replacements I order are too short on the travel length. Anyone know anything that might help???
