Hi Everyone!
As some of you know, I'm going to build a go kart vehicle. I have attached a picture of my Google Sketchup model. My next step currently is to get an engine.

I'm going to my grandpa and grandma's campsite on July 4 and my dad called and asked them if they had an engine I could have, so I'll see what I'm going to be able to use.

And from the model, if any of you have a name for it, please post. I haven't been able to think of a name for this thing, so I keep calling it "gokart". It needs a name!

The part circled in the picture is called a "seat cushion", and I'd probably have one where your back would be, too. I'm thinking of using an old plastic chair with a cushion on it, or an old car seat.

Yeah, none of my plans yet have been finalized, so that's something to take into account for final plans. I had an old design that was too large and then with this new one it got smaller, so maybe I need to do something in the middle.

I'm going to get a snowblower engine from my dad (free!) that still works. It is a 3 HP Snapper with a Tecumseh, and it has a clutch and everything built-in. Anyone know how fast could that go hooked up to this go kart, with a 1:1 gear ratio? I'd like to be able to get to 15 mph.

You dont want a 1:1 gear ratio. The built in clutch is most likely a belt tensioner. If you only want 15mph your gear ratio will have to be in the 6-8:1 range depending on tire size.
