First Kart Project - Carter Brothers

My son has been bugging me about building a go kart, so went looking for a rolling chassis to rehab with him. Not a lot of options on CL currently, so I settled for what looks like a Carter Brothers 1735 or 1755. Pretty rough, but mostly there, nothing rusted solid, and for $80 is still cheaper than buying parts from scratch.

Live 1" axle, Comet 20 TC, dual band brakes, larger tires.

Got a new Predator 212 "Hemi" edition waiting to go in, but first order of business is to fix the brakes. Missing the pedal, rod, and driver side hardware. PO welded a pipe on the side and tried to run a pull rope through it for brakes. Also, looks like the left and right drums are different diameters, need to sort that out also.

Any recommendations for a brake setup on this guy?

Welcome to the forum. I see you have a band brake setup on there already. You could either just fix that up, or you can put a hydraulic brake on it.

If you want a good sticky on cleaning your TC, HERE it is. You might not be able to save that one with all the rust, but give it a try
