first kart from south texas

I had a frame given to me... it's a 1 wheel drive... I've sanded it, repainted and added a predator 212 to it... I've started to mod the motor... exhaust, jet, and intake should be in Tuesday. it runs 40.65 mph and was wondering if I can get anything else out of it. it's a small tire kart... 13.50 rear tire.

Nice little thunderkart go kart from the looks of it. 40 mph is pretty dang fast for a cheap little go kart like that. Where did you get the front tires from? Anything past 35 for a small kart like that is not very safe.

But if you dont wanna be safe, there are "30 Series TAV2" kits out there that just bolt on. May need to space the axle sprocket out/in or readjust motor mount for it to line up though.

Oh and one more thing, I had a kart like that and it had this weird axle set up. Is yours one wheel or two wheel drive? If two wheels...did you grease up the axle with some grease? Its just a simple bushing on a 3/4" axle and may wear out. Just doesnt seem like you should really go that fast with a kart that small with low speed stuff (front tires and axle worry me).

governor has been disconnected... I got the tires from harbor freight... 1 wheel drive

No no,..... You can't just disconnect it it needs to be removed internally, or you risk major damage to the engine.

easy that a easy removal? do I need to replace flywheel?

SUPER easy.... Takes me about 10-15 minutes to yank one out. Go on YouTube and search "predator governor removal" .... There are tons of videos... Search our forum for the same thing.... You can find even more valuable information.......

Oh, by the way.... Do yourself a HUGE favor and ditch the harbor freight wheels and tires..... Your life or that of a loved one, is far more valuable than to trust a $1.20 (if that) hf wheel/tire..... It's not meant for karts.... It's meant for CARTS.... Hand carts, dollies.... Ect......

Yes please ditch those wheels. I cant believe they made it to 40mph once. They are just really weak and the bearing hub breaks right out of the wheel. And the tires shred and fall apart. Ok thanks. rant over carry on.

Yep. check out the DIY GK Speed Calculator:

But if you go too big you will burn up your clutch. I have 15x6x6 on a Kart 72 tooth sprocket and 12 tooth clutch. No problems. Rumor has it any bigger tire and you have clutch problems.
