so seeing everyone doing it without much effort, and seeing it happen right in front my face made me confident that i could take out the governor myself. so today i set to work removing everything and popped over the cover, first thing that happens in my cam falls out, i knew how to time them but i was suprised how small they were. after that i set to work on the arm that presses the weights open, it took about an hour for me to get out with all the bending and moving because my stupid self didnt cut off the top portion, so finally with all set aside i pulled the button and washer off of the governor gear, but i couldnt get the clip off the back of the gear. any suggestions? its been a hell of a day in doing all of this

i just hit the axle from the back with one of my grandpa's center punches. i replaced both that hole, and the hole that held on the governor arm linkage with 1/4 x 20 at 1/2 inch i believe, also what is the rule on crankshaft play? with my side cover bolts torqued down at 20 ft/lb i have no side play ( at least that is noticeable, crank still turns smoothly without a problem) , i loose side play as soon as all bolts are screwed in finger tight

standard gasket. once bolts are torqued i cant noticeably move the crankshaft back and forth, but everything is moving freely and even tho theres no spark plug, when i pulled the cord it seemed everything was working fine, and in order
