Saw this on Craig's List. His listing price is $300 but I might be able to haggle down. It has a 5 HP Briggs and Stratton engine and from what I can see from the pictures it looks like it has disc breaks and a torque converter (Which belt is broken).

I'm planning on putting a 212CC Predator engine in it or the 301CC.

Any advice would be terrific because I just started to get into go karts.

Kool kart!

Good start for $300.00

...or less is even better!

I would see if that motor runs before buying a new one.

Those old Briggs's were built pretty well.

You could be on the road with some fresh gas & a new belt. :2guns:

If you do get it.
Consult with us here before buying a Different Engine.
The TCs are not all identical. The one you have may not fit the 301cc.

But yes looks like a good deal. Depends on your region on the planet though.

What advice do you need?

Ah yes. Immediately replacing the engine with the cheap Chinese "engine du jour" instead of learning something about fixing the engine it already has. It's an American kart that you want to defile with a cheap Chinese engine that's a copy of a copy of a Honda.

I frown on that. :ack2::D

I fail to see how this is a Crazy Craigslist Find.

Better buy that kart before it gets away. Haggling would be nice unless of course you have more money than sense. :D

Thanks for your advice everyone!

Hellion,
According to him the engine works fine. The main reason I want to replace is for off-roading and racing friends. From what I've researched 5 HP is probably not going to be enough for what I want to do.

Picked the Predator engine simply because its cheap and decent quality for its price.

As I said I'm new to this, I'll probably try to fix the kart up first and see how well it runs before I start to make any major investments.
