i wanted to get rid of the snow thrower attachment from my garden tractor. i never tested it out so i dont know if it works. so i just said free. i had the thought that it might not go anyway.

posted the ad. less than a minute later my phone rings! holy crap! i couldnt believe it. so sale pending already. then he said he would call his buddy with a truck and call me back. so as soon as i hung up my phone rings again. another guy wants it. i said LOL its already sale pending ill call back if it doesnt go through. then the first guy calls back and we made arrangements for him to come pick it up!

then before i could get back to the computer my phone rang over and over again, i got some texts and went to my email to delete the ad. (got a bunch of emails too)

i feel like i was running a radio station

now im gonna be the good guy and hold it instead of give it to the guys that want to come today!

Lucky you! I stopped using CL because I kept getting my email spammed off! I now use Kijiji (dunno if you folks have that) and a few others. I LOOK on CL, but don't advertise there.

Yeah, I put one of my old skidoo sleds up on CL. within the first 5-10 minutes my email was getting spammed and I was getting calls left and right. But, considering I only put it up for $350, I can understand why people jumped on it so fast.

in my case the snow thrower is old (1983) and i dont know how much of it was there so id rather not make a few bucks and have to deal with an angry person who says it turns out to be a POS. so free means take my sh!t and you dont like it then get rid of it yourself. but i wasnt expecting THAT many people to call so fast.

I don't like giving stuff away on CL (or selling it at a very low price) because then you just get the scrappers that don't actually want/need it just taking it to the yard to get a few bucks out of it. Although if I knew it would actually get used there are many thigns I'd be fine with letting go of for a low price.

yeah. id assume some of them are scrappers. but maybe the reason i got so many hits instantly is because i posted the link to the tractor forum.

the guy asked me how he can hook it up to the mower and i explained how it hooks in back of the floor and there are pins under the engine area. and i have the manual with instructions.

i doubt someone would drive about 45 mins each way to get the blower.

maybe if he brings the mower with him and i show him where it attaches i would know for sure he is going to use it... but otherwise i dont know
