Yeah i was real excited, then when i looked outside i saw a trail about 10 feet long coming out of the exhaust of debris, acorns, grass, what looked like a nest, you name it!! could tell its been sitting for a while.

Im gonna take one of these days to get underneath the car and test to see if the fuel pump is getting electricity. That way i can isolate the problem.

Awsome. That's great to hear.:wai::wai::wai:

:iagree: It's always good to hear news like that but, then again, with only 50 odd thousand miles on it, you wouldn't expect the engine to have major problems would you...

Having said that, it's usually the minor problems that cause the biggest headaches :lolgoku:

A little mechanics tip: To attempt to get the fuel pump working temporarily, whack the tank with a rubber mallet a few times; unless the pump is completely dead (or there's an electrical problem), it usually brings it to life for a bit...

I once had a '32 Fudd- it was slow but it was wery wery quiet.....:lolgoku:

:funnypost: Yes those 32's were kinda slow and awfully quiet. Back in my high school days I had a 32 Fudd 2 door sedan with a full house 53 Merc flathead, original 3 speed trans and a Columbia 2 speed rear end. That thing would flat get with the program.

We got a snow storm today, and another one coming next week so no work on the car for a while

How much snow did you get? Just got back from university and we had 7" in the 2 hours I was there.

:ack2: SNOW :ack2: SNOW :ack2: SNOW :ack2:

I'm on the northern edge of what's hitting you guys right now; got about 3" before the wind got hold of it......:censored::surrender:

Can only dream of it here

:wai:Here in N.E. IN we received 10'', between Tues and Weds., on top of the 6"'s that is already on the ground and more to come Sat/Sun. Winds 20 t0 30 mph. Plus the fact that the high maybe 0 and the lows -5 or worse for the next few days. I am running out of room to stock pile this snow. I have an idea, lets get some Olympicans with snow shovels and see how fast they can load some dump trucks and send said trucks to California to help with the drought problem.

not sure how much snow, but it was enough to have school canceled yesterday so im not mad :cheers2:

quick question maybe one of you could answer for me, I attached a picture that i found online and in blue i have highlighted a cable looking thing that is cut off on mine and looks like it should be replaced. Does anyone know what that does? if its not vital i probably wont bother.

If I'm not mistaking, that's a bowden cable... the hood release to be precise.

at least this one is:

thats weird, it looks like it could be that. But my hood release works fine.... Either way, not important im pretty sure. lol.

I found a fuse diagram online!!! Tomorrow ill go out and get all new fuses. Maybe thatll help sort out some of my electrical problems like wipers constantly going off, blinkers not working, and only one headlight :/ FINGERS CROSSED on this one!! haha

Also that biig plastic intake tube (kinda squigly shaped), does that just carry air? Mine is missing and i was thinking of just getting like flex pipe and putting that in instead. I think it should work fine if its just for air. Ive seen it done on other cars before, but not with this setup.

Thanks

EDIT: New pics :)

That's not the hood release cable that broken/missing, it looks more like a hose...

Just like a go kart, if you want to increase performance a bit, leave the air tube off & replace it with a big cone filter

Although, it depends where the MAF sensor is located

pod filters dont do F/A on a car

dont put one on a car it makes u look like a fool

the manufacturer has spent millions on R&D
then u just mess it up by putting a filter with same or more restiction that sucks more dirt

hint
its all about surface area
u will get more power out of a spoiler and a chev badge
if u wantr real power put a big TRD sticker down the side

back on topic
yes u can use any type of hose u like
depending on where or if your car has a MAF sensor (mass air flow)
more or less tells the engine how much air its getting so it can work out how much fuel to mix with it

but it apears there not one in the pipe anyway

the hose must be very well sealed and cant be too flimsy
it also cant rub on any other components as if it wears though your in trouble

best bet is to go to your local auto parts store
they usually have a range of differant type of ally pipe with a range of differant bends in them
find a piece or a few pieces and secure them together with new hose clamps and silicone joints that u get from the same joint

if that hose has been left off then u proberbly should have cleaned out all the crap before u started it
that is what joins the air filter to the engine so any mice or insect has had full access to your engine internals

is that cable cut or completly removed
if its just cut then follow it back to the source

if its removed then forget about it till u get the car running
if at the end of the resto u find somthing isnt working then that cable may have somthing to do with it

I agree with folwer on the air filter. The only reason you should go with a cone filter on a var/truck is if you cant fit a regular one in, like with a turbo or engine swap. The cone filters normally reduce power anyways because the engine ends up pulling in more hot/warm air.

I cant believe how clean that car is for what its been through.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into the pipe.

I gave it a good looking over and cleaning before I tried to start it. Changed the oil too so if I saw anything suspicious I would've checked it out.

Yeah I was shocked as well with the condition of the car. It took some cleaning to get it to look like those pics but its been getting better.

Quick update, put in new fuses today. Hoping that sorts out some issues
