Hi all, I'm about to build an off road go kart/ buggy, I have a Honda cbr 900 as a doner engine. I'm planning on having a rear swing arm mounted with the rear axle fixed to this. So I would need a jack drive I think i read somewhere, my question is do I need to do anything to the gear ratios on the jack drive as I'm keeping the 16 t cog at the output of the engine and the standard cog off the back wheel on my axle, not sure what tooth it is though. Would I need to gear it up or down?
Also what's the easiest/ best front suspension set up? I was thinking 'a' frames at the front as they look the easiest to make, pros and cons of 'A' frame compared to wishbones?
Oh and does anyone know the best way to have brakes on the front? Is it only by getting doner parts from a quad say?
All advice comment s much appreciated.

bro rather use quad a frames and as it is easier, usually they come with drum or disc brakes but its your choice.

Welcome. What are your fabrication skills like. This is quite a big build if you have never done anything like this before. Can you weld? There are many examples of A arm suspension on the forum. Have a good read up on the different ways to make them.

I'm ok with a welder, done some mechanic work so I can weld with oxy, mig and arc pretty good.
I think I'm gonna go with the quad wishbones with brakes already attached as it will prob be a nightmare trying to marry different bits together, plus with a 900 I'm probably gonna need all the stopping I can get.

With a 900 you are going to have to make darn sure you have a frame that you trust your life with. Any sort of sloppy welding and lack of bracing is going to get you killed
