Hey I have been looking and planning a build for a few years now, and am finally ready to start. I know at least that it will be a two seater, and build for off-road, I have a frame with cage layout I like. What I am not sure about is pretty much the rest of it, engine, axle, etc.

Since the beginning the plan was to make this a 4x4, but I am finding parts difficult to source.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks,
Matthew

Here's a link to my build thread: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10435

I took both the rigid frame and full suspension versions of my kart offroad and had a great time (though the suspension makes less headaches). I wouldn't suggest my design for front suspension if you are keeping it a 2-seater, seeing that you have to narrow the front end and reduce the already minimal legroom. Try making some j-arms for the front if you go with the suspenion.

Thanks, I will give that thread a read through this evening if I can. I do already have a set of wheels and tires I want to use, just because they were free. A set of new take offs from a friends Polaris Ranger side by side.

what size do u want this thing?
how much are u willing to spend?
how fast do u wanna go?

atv and utv parts will be the easyest

theres a thread floating around about someone who modded a golf art and made a bad *** utv/buggy type thing

Well I don't want it to be very big, big enough to haul me and my daughter around at maybe 25mpg.

As far as price, I am shooting for as little as I can, but I am willing to buy whatever parts I need to get it done.

I am now trying to locate a parts 4x4 atv to try and use..

you could just "split the quad at the front of the engine, and mount it to the front of the frame, that way you dont have to worry about steering and suspension, plus decent leg room either side.
