that's what I thought it looked like, huh, guess I've just got to keep looking for it.

To find the governor, start at the carb's throttle plate and work backward. There will be a metal rod attached to the throttle, and the other end is attached to the governor arm.

That wire coming out of the carb bowl indicates the presence of an anti-afterfire solenoid. This is an electrical valve that allows fuel onto the carb with the ignition on, and stops fuel flow when you switch the ignition off.

found it! don't know how I missed it! there's a giant plate on the side of the engine with a lever that goes into the case and also connects to the carb! we completely flooded the engine with oil from the crank case because for some reason the people who working on it rolled the mower over to get the belt back on!

I know we don't kneed two (one's for another project) in it but most likely will take 1 bottle to fill because it's nearly emptied and I've filled smaller engines with 1 bottle

the battery was dead so we couldn't test it. would it work to put a clutch on the engine, connect a RAGB to it with a chain, then attach that to the axle with another chain work to propel a gokart?

ok, i'll try and convince the other people who are working on the mower to use the engine for a gokart instead of putting a woofer and under glow on the mower. we have a large aluminum golf cart frame that might be usable. probably have already asked this but... is TIG the only thing that can be used to weld aluminum?

something came loose in the carb and now we have no throttle control. also it won't stop. can't shift to neutral and the clutch only partialy works. I kept almost running into things because I couldn't get the engine off and I was running it inside. is the belt hooked to the engine to tight or something?

well if you have no throttle control then follow the cable to the engine and see how it's connected or was connected and fix it.

To shift you need to first apply the brake and stop the mower then move the gear lever to neutral.

If the engine won't turn off you could always pull the spark plug if turning the key off doesn't kill it.

It sounds like a real mess in that shop with so many ppl messing with things.

the throttle lever came disconnected from the internals and we haven't taken it apart yet

brake and clutch are the same on this mower and even if I stand up on it the mower only slows.

the problem was that the screw driver we've been using to turn the key switch fell on the floor and if I got off it would have driven into the wall.

it's definitely annoying. there's a couple guys who don't do anything and tell everyone what should happen after they ask someone what should be done next.

The brake can be fixed by taking off one of the rear tires (normally the right side) and try tightening the alan key or whatever you might have. Tighten it just till the mower stops properly. Don't over tighten it. The pads get worn and need tightening over time. Should be an easy fix to get the brakes working a bit.
