You closed this thread without giving me the oppurtunity to defend my statement. This is to rustydog and fowler.
Rustydog: I voted that year. It did not ask on the ballot if we should invade Iraq. That decision was made after the fact. You cannot blame the American people for that. It was after terrorists who were jealous of our freedom decided to attack the USA. it was simply to be certain that husseins terrorist *** wasn't holding nuclear weapons that could fall into the hands of terrorists. He was a long term nuisance to all the super powers. So basically we were protecting ourselves and the rest of the world.
Oh and about our guns. It's not about what we "need". America was founded on freedom of choice. It's what we want. We do not believe in more regulation. There are more than enough in place already. Again FREEDOM! You allow police to invade your homes and feel ok about it? Wow, now that's privacy. Like your home is a grade school locker. I must say your politicians did a great job of convincing you to actually resist freedom. Sounds like you like jumping through hoops. I'm sorry for that.
Fowler:
Again FREEDOM! I'm not even sure that the people of your country know what that is. Here's the definition for you. Probably a pretty foreign word to you.

About The USA being the greatest country in the world. How many people flee their country to come to yours to have a better life??? The Center of immigration Study's estimated in 2008 that we had 11 illegal immigrants here. They keep coming every day.
Oh and about our public image can you say JEALOUS???

The higher you climb the the mountain the more haters come out. Just a fact of life.
Paranoid? Who's paranoid? I'm about as far from paranoid as one could get. I'm prepared for anything. Not many Americans are paranoid. Ever heard the quote "prepare for the worst and hope for the best" or "better safe than sorry" I guess it's our difference in culture. You are dependent on police to protect you. I don't need anyone to protect me. They can come clean up the body's. I got the protection handled. I've never once bought a gun out of fear of anyone or anything. I buy them because I like them. It's fun to shoot, they go up in value, and a side benefit is protection.
A good saying about that. "crooks are many, cops are few. Crooks have guns, why don't you..." They stole a piece of freedom from your people along with your guns. Sorry but freedom is why our ancestors risked all to come to this new land. We aren't just going to hand that over without a fight. They weren't sheep that just followed the herd. Would be very disrespectful to them if we started now. We are leaders, not followers. Australia is a pretty country, I hope to visit there one day but I know where home is.
