I built this kart in about three full days worth of work.
I have had some trouble with the throttle cables but that was resolved today with the help of others, Thanks Again.
:wai: I built this for my daughter and son to ride in our yard and now i think I'll need one for dad!

Its a 5 horse Briggs with a 3 speed tranny, I salvaged them off an old riding mower. I run it in second gear for the kids right now untill they get use to it. Thanks for checkin it out though!

Seat

The seat was my daughters car seat when she was a baby! She is now 6 and has her own bucket seat!

Neat! I'm about to embark on a similar project using a 12 horse Craftsman tractor for parts.

Do you have any detail shots of how you connected the engine to the transaxle?

Trans axel

I have the motor (vertical shaft) belt driving the trans which is chain driving the rear axel. I am going to make one change though.
right now the kids have to wait untill I put the kart in gear because the shifter is behind them.
So I am going to put a cetrifugal clutch on the motor, this way they can select a gear but the kart will not move untill the throttle is depressed.
i could do away with the trans altogether but having the ability to limit the speed for the kids is safer for now.
