Well, I've been dabbling with go karts for a few months now. Finally posting a hello to all. I really enjoy reading the posts here. Good to pick up little tricks and what not.
I recently picked up a Manco 388 Dingo. It's in great shape. That won't stop me from tearing it apart. It had the original 8 hp Briggs and a 40 series Comet torque converter on it when I got it. It was ready to ride but I wanted something that I could put a built motor on. I was going to put a GX200 on it but upped that to a GX390. I've been doing some modifications to the cart. I'm currently waiting on engine parts to start the engine build.
So off came the motor.
I did remove the wheels, sandblasted the rims, (one had a moisture problem) and painted them gold.
Oh yea, I almost forgot. So I'm kinda O.C.D. I kept looking and also picked up a Manco Dingo 285. That one came from downtown Detroit. I wasn't real sure if it was worth picking up a good price considering the neighborhood I had to go to get it. I did survive though. Gave $500 for the 388 and $200 for the 285. I thought that was pretty good. The 388 was garage kept, 2nd owner machine. Came with the original paper work from when it was purchased new. Record kept of any repairs done. I was really impressed.
Also currently setting up manual disc brakes on both karts.
