I finally got a new kart. Its a vintage one from the 70's. Was originally a soap box I believe so I removed the fiber glass and ohhh boy what a surprise. Very bare bones frame. It bends when I stand on it even. Weighs about 50 pounds but, it works. Ill re enforce it soon with sheet metal. Any ways... The tires are bald and tiny. I need to replace the fronts. The current size is 4.10/3.50-4. I have no idea what that means. I just want to fit larger tires on the rims. Where can I buy those online?

Secondly I want more power. Going to do a predator engine swap tomorrow. 7hp and a 50 pound frame should be a rocket. Ive never had a kart with a centrifugal clutch so we will see how it goes...

Should be great fun! Im looking for pure speed in this kart.

Where can I buy tires and which tires are best for all pavement use? Ill be riding on snow sometimes and ice for drifting in these upcoming months but other than that just dry pavement. thanks!

Happy riding!

Without pics I can't be sure :toetap05: but, I assume you have something like this.

Finding larger tyres for 4" rims won't be easy; it would be easier to go up to 6" rims as there's more size choices

I actually just caved in and bought the same size tires! My goal on this kart is 40mph. My friend switched from torque convertor to centrifugal today and it was WAY faster. at least 7mph faster actually. I can imagine mine will be fast with the new 212cc engine.

Will larger rear tires help me increase the speed? the tires now are 4.1/3.5 - 6. What is a larger size I can fit on these rims?

Here's a 15" that will fit a 6" rim.

When looking at tyre measurements, the last number indicates rim diameter. For example:

15x6.00-6 = 15" total tyre height x 6" wide tread to fit 6" rim.

Larger tyres will give you a top speed increase but, keep in mind that increasing tyre height will affect gearing. With a CVT (torque converter) it shouldn't be a problem though.

I'm confused by this whole thread.

:useless:, so if you don't post any, we cant help you further. It is impossible to give advice when we don't have a clue what we are looking at
