On the blue/green one, that beautiful seat "pad" has a back, a bottom & side "bolsters"
...& that bit of "padding" in the front, is called a "jewel pad"

You can probably surmise the reasoning for it

Well, I leaned something today... and yeah, that makes PERFECT sense.

That seat... an NOS find from an overseas seller... so I bought the 3 he had.

Aha! Finally learned what that's called! First time I saw one was on another thread, looked 8"-9" tall, thickly padded, had wondered if it was an owner homemade add-on. So the family Jewels pad isn't the house where the Jewels family lives.
