Maybe a better question for heymow, just curious if anyone here knows of them. I have one that has less than 100hrs on it.

Normally I wouldn't waste time with verticals but this could be an exception.

No idea on setup. Everyone here scoffs at the 40hp rated ragb's with only a 1100 rpm max but I don't understand why that wouldn't work because the driven pulley would be mounted to it thus you'd be in the max range. I'm thinking torque converter to ragb with the large sprocket on the ragb input everything else after would be 1:1, or whatever suggested.

This isn't anything im gona do anytime soon I just have this engine that I think has real potential. I don't want an open class lol just something a bit better, not sure if they hold up with no govenor, do you need a billet flywheel or rods, or would the valves float and keep it safe like a predator? I have no idea.

the valves likely start to float at one point or another, if that's still safe for the conrods (seeing more abuse than the flywheel) IDK though... but frankly.. with a pricetag such as tecumseh engines,
I'd assume some good quality casts at least.

Anyways, I never seen a TC mounted to an RAGB really... I cannot even remember seeing one installed on a vertical shaft to be honest.
I cannot image why this wouldn't work.

BUT talking of which.. the TC has a low ratio and a high ratio.. the latter is close to 1:1;
thus the input of the RAGB should be able to withstand all the engines rpms!
Which then implies that the 1100rpm limited RAGB is not an option any longer.

or you need to install a vertical jackshaft (tapered bearings and such)
which takes the TC pulley and gears down by say 4:1 to bring the rpms down.
which then quadruples the engines torque... so the RAGB should withstand say 4times the engines torque at least.

tough!

it might just work, but it's far from trivial to make it work I'd say.
(especially since the limit of the RAGB will get tested in some way)

Yeah I don't think I worded it quite right. I wanted to have the driven tc pulley on a jackshaft. Then that would go to a 60 tooth(or similar) sprocket on the ragb input, which I think is what your saying? I seen a 40hp 1800rpm ragb at surplus center for $150.00. Sounds expensive but if it held up would be worth it.

I talked to an engineer that builds pulling mowers awhile back he said they mod these vtwins to crazy hp levels.

Im thinking 22hp, no govenor and some cool pipes would be more than enough.

Of course if I just used this as a road cruiser I could just use a centripical clutch like a racing mower but big bux for one that would work. Bulk of my riding is gravel road cruising.

Granted a 780tc probably close to $600 so not cheap either lol. If I were smart id go tell those mower guys you get me a new 420predator you can have it lol. Now granted there are people on this forum using 40 series on 25hp vegas engines just get some premature belt wear.
