The basics of lathe work is pretty simple & straight forward, it's when it gets technical (like the rear hubs) that it starts to hurt the head

Well, I wasn't far off: Dropped the hubs at Pete's on Monday to be welded, picked them up Tuesday, went today & trimmed the plates & drilled the holes ready for studs.

Tomorrow I'll pick up some bolts & work on truing the plates, they developed a slight warp from welding... They should be finished tomorrow night

Same thing I cut the centres with; a lathe

So, I went & bought some bolts this morning. Back home, I tapped out the holes to suit, ran the bolts in & guess what; the overall bolt circle is 1mm too big .

Back to the drawing board...

i think that's what he is planning to do.
although it would have been a lot easier if they had fit in the first place.
being 1mm out just sucks

I could fill & redrill or I could just redrill 45* out & have some nice decorative, weight reducing air holes, which is exactly what I did

After the slight "miscalculation" earlier, I literally went back to the drawing board & created templates that fit over the hubs so I could remark them more accurately. A bit of drilling & tapping later & SUCCESS!

They look good! Wish I made mine on a lathe now. I just used a jigsaw and holesaws.

You could do that, but then I'd have to point out that I found & implemented a solution within hours

Besides which, everything's been going too well lately, something had to go wrong eventually

Thanks, I appreciate the praise & support from you guys. I'm actually having fun doing these...

My biggest worry ATM is the cost of sending them home; starting to think it may be cheaper to do the 4 hour (round trip) drive
