Of course it would be a pain to adapt, but we're DIY here last time I checked. It checks all the boxes: Provides a useful function; provides a mechanical challenge; is cheap. Winning.

Goal would be a Quaife inline gearbox. But man, nearly £1000 for one and no idea what the exchange rate is like from USD would be.

If I had to recommend someone getting a CVT gearbox for a go kart that is over built and kind of budget friendly, the Polaris 250 Trail Boss with hi, low and reverse and not what I got which was one for the 350L 4x4 trail boss. Just need the driven clutch and you're set. The Comet 94c Duster belt width should work with it. So you could have a decent setup for under $500. Drivens are like $60-80. Gearbox is like $125-200. And the Duster is maybe $200...just looked at the prices and holy crap they have shot to the moon since I last checked a couple years ago.

1. If it ain't in the Mt.Top parts department (also known as the scrap pile), it ain't going in anyrhing l work on/ build.
2. l checked the parts dept. There are no gearboxes, of any kind.
3. The staff here is strictly forbidden to look at websites, such as mentioned above.

Want to talk about big bux look for a RPM or JEFFCO fnr box. Their about $3,500-$4,500 brand new.

Oh for sure. Can't remember which of the two, maybe both could offered as CVT input or motorcycle chain. And at least one of them had the options for multiple gear ratios internally. I don't think either one had a differential built in, though it would be kind of nice, especially when you're dropping that kind of cash on a gearbox with just about any CV output from VW.

Only one that I know of off the top of my head and I think is a member on here, albeit rarely active would be Moto Mule who got I think the RPM version sometime ago.
