Anyone know the idle speed of this engine? Also where I can get a clutch for it? its a 14hp electric start, but has 12 net hp... and a 1" diameter crankshaft nose.

oo also... I hear lots of ppl talking about not wanting to vibrate the frame apart so they shim the engine... but wouldn't putting a rubber grommet (one per bolt) under the engine do a better job?

Metal fatigue is a fact of life and cannot be avoided.

well yeah, but wouldnt putting a rubber mount extend the life?

I would not bother with the grommet. It may allow the engine to move position and change chain/ belt tension. Up to you though. Idle speed will be around 1400-1600.
Google 1" centrifugal clutch or comet 40 series.

hm. Well thanks for the info. I'm planning on a swing arm rear so I can just replace the whole rear when it gets tired
