A diesel go kart. No way. I understand the torque, but low rpm and the smell, not for me.

It would (could) be the perfect engine for a mini monster truck, of which a few have appeared on the forum lately (or just some truck bodies for that matter). Then, add a tailpipe several times comically larger than the exhaust pipe diameter and roll some coal.


I just had a eureka moment, and some of our RC fans will take note. Low RPM diesel + a truck body = a low speed crawler, all the rage in the RC car world but in..1/4 scale(?)

What kills me is the absolute long life of diesel fuel. There's "will it run" types out there using the original 20+ year old diesel that's still in the tank! And speaking of tanks, another guy used the leftover diesel in one of Uncle Saddam's tanks from Gulf War I/II. Tank had been on outdoor display for a decade or more.

Makes me want to switch to diesel for karts and minibikes. They have small single cylinder, air cooled diesel engines....

Diesel kart or buggy would be fun, but I'd rather have at least 2 or 3 cylinders to get the most out of it. Like a small Kubota or Yanmar.

They are good engines, much better than the Crate Cummins introduced a number years back, the R2.8. The R2.8 is a Cummins engine, but built very cheaply and there's some QC problems as well. But it is like half the weight of the 4BT.

Rich mans project.! They do have an overload of cool, tork and amazing ability drain yer wallet. Diesel is $5+/gal. Now, so l parked the pickup.

Hey guys, what color is your E-zero gasoline? I got a new 5 gallon white/translucent (that’s illegal!) “farm use” jug and I was kinda surprised it was urine yellow when I filled up the other day. I remember pinkish(?) or orange-ish hues back in the day, but that may have been leaded gasoline.
