Hondas Sound Reliable But i Cant Find The Perfect One On Ebay . Ive Heard Of Briggs And Strattos But Not Much Info On Them

will you will be looking in uk, plenty of briggs on there. We got a clone and seen plenty in England. The gx160 is not unreliable one of the best engines out there , just some hate the clones (copy of gx160/200)

That 5hp is a nice find

Mostly rip offs of Honda with inferior parts but they are readily available, at least in the US, and when properly maintained, are very reliable.

Look into the Subaru Robin engines. Many available and true OHC! Available on ebay, too.

A bike engine would be the best bet for power and reliability. If it's going in a road racing kart I'd suggest a Honda CR125 if you can find one, but really any bike engine up to about 250cc will be fine for a racing kart. If you wish to race against others find out what engines they are using, and what you need to race in the same class.

Anybody that calls Honda GX's unreliable needs their head read. Sounds like the kind of person that mistreats or doesn't maintain something, then blames it when it lets him down.

btw briggs there is a good one but it wont be too too fast with 5hp, and that engine may look nicer than it actually is because its spray painted black, you can tell because the engine fins are black, they should be metal color.

If you want to go fast, buy an engine meant to do so, not a power washer engine.

By your name I'd guess you want to race against other karts, typically in racing they have engines that are required to become part of a certain class of racing. They'll specify what you use. Go find your local kart racing organization and ask them for rules and regulations and specifications you must adhere to once you pick a class that fits your size, age, and skill level.

Are you planning on one for each wheel? If I were going with that, I'd rig up paddle throttles under the wheel so that you can assist in turning. That, and it would just be cool. Getting 2 motors to sync perfectly isn't easy with only 1 throttle. Also, it's still 2 3hp motors meaning they, combined, wont have the power of a 6.5 clone. Nor the torque.

it's not necessary to have the engines syc up perfectly when doing a twin engine cart, if they're off a little it won't rev quite as high but will still have lots more power
