Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my engine,

Its almost exactly like this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjzHq...eature=related

Just in slightly better condition.
For some reason the fuel is not getting to the spark plug, I took the carb off and tried cleaning it out a bit but there wasn't really anything in there. The only thing I couldn't seem to open to clean, or even understand were the two little pipes going down into the gas tank. Is there a way for those pipes to be cleaned out and, how do they work?

The engine works fine if I put fuel in the spark plug hole btw.

Also there is a wire that goes down to a small swivel bolt around where the oil goes in, is this used for anything>?
Or can I leave that wire where it is, its kinda a hassle to get back on.

your link dont work. Sounds like u have a 5hp briggs. Flathead? Try starting it with starter fluid, sounds like a bad diaphram which pumps the fuel into the engine.

Okay well I'm pretty sure they are clogged, there is a long yellow one, then a shorter one. The long yellow one looks really clogged but does it unscrew or something?? I'm afraid of breaking it. the shorter one looks alright, but then again it doesn't really have much of an opening. I'll try getting compressed air down those pipes. and I'm not sure what differance starter fluid would make, I've put fuel right on the spark plug and I've gotten a few revs out of it, it just doesn't get any more fuel from the tank.

ALSO

If the tank has a small amount of rust at the bottom is it very important to clean it, and how do I oppen the tank up.

ALSO
It is a briggs and stratton 5hp forgot to say that

P.S What is the diaphragm?

They do not unscrew, go to your local dollar store and see if you cant buy a few cans of carb cleaner, it will be compressed and be much better than just compressed air, it has the ability to break up hardened gas and whatnot.

You do not need to 100% clean off of the rust out of the bottom of the tank, once you have the tank off do your best to remove it using cleaner and place a small filter on the bottom of the longer pick-up tube, briggs even makes a filter you can place on these in this case. If the rust becomes excessive you might need a new tank (or used).

The diaphragm is the gasket on the side of the tank under the cover which can be easily damaged and prevent proper flow of gasoline for operation to the engine.
