Has anybody tried to decrease the amount of vibration the engine makes? I want to quiet down my predator 212 a little when it comes to the rattles and vibrations it makes. i was thinking about trying some polyurethane washers between the engine and frame has anyone tried this or for see any problems with doing this?

I have rubber gaskets in-between my gx200 clone and it makes a big difference. it's just the same as motor mount bushings on a car...
I believe you can cut up some non radials, old kart tires and drill some holes and there you go. For me it's worth putting them on. My sons without rattles like crazy at idle.

Rubber mounting will eventually cause chain issues, then eventual derailment...
Keep it solid.. It's an industrial motor...

Just make sure it's tight on the engine mounting plate. Rubber mounts will do more harm than good.

What they don't make Go Kart engine mounts?

I think the best way would be to isolate the engine and axle assembly from the rest of kart. By adding suspension in the rear. Then you dont worry about chain derailment and all the vibration is in the rear.

But yah go kart engine mounts!! someone build a good design and i bet everyone would buy it....hmmm... business opportunity. i call it! I got dibs. :)

This questions comes up a lot. here is a thread from 2009
http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5227

Read post #5 idea on how to fix some of this.
http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showpost.php?p=62346&postcount=5

edit: another idea i just thought of. Just add rubber mounts to the seat! dont worry about the engine. just worry about YOU rattling. Maybe same on steering wheel brackets? Just a thought.

Another fairly expensive option is to sent it over to the guy at NRRacing.com and he can balance your crank/piston/rod. Will cost about $100 plus shipping costs AHHHHH!

Well thank you to everyone who wasnt a smartass!! (Ehhmm whitetrashrocket lol) i know its not a caddy and i know its an industrial engine i just thought with all the crazy and cool stuff that has been done by alot of you that somebody has had expirience with reducing the buzz, i knew rubber wouldnt be a good idea but i stopped by the hardware store and bought some nylon washers to put between the motor and the mounting plate hopefully it will work decently and i can still use my 1.5 long bolts.

The rubber on the seat isnt too bad of an idea either. I will let you guys know how the nylon washers pan out

I've always wondered the same thing

If you have a minibike, not only will you get some vibrations, you might get some of the infamous "butt-itch" :D

Thats why you see the seat springs on mini bikes. Dont want that butt itch! and probably so you dont break your Butt while riding hard. :)

Don't be so sure it isn't a flywheel in the end.
I know this one I'm dealing with is hideously unbalanced.
I've had it on two different engines.

There's the vibration that is like your engine buzz, then there's the kind that wants to shake your ride to pieces.
