I have a Briggs 900 on a doodle bug and I have a vibration when I am at low speeds but when I open it up it goes away. Not sure if needs to be tuned or what it could be. Any ideas would help

Very normal...
Make sure engine is bolted down snugly.
Those DB's were made for 3hp engines have a thin motor mount plate. I have been able to reduce this by welding two tabs between motor mount plate and frame. That reduced a lot of the flexing on the motor mount plate.

Put some kind of of cushion between the engine and the motor mount. a small piece of StyroFoam Sheet should be very inexpensive if you buy some. Use a piece of that. Should help tons.

i bet an even better working idea(its a bit out there but it would work exceptionally well at masking vibrations)even better would be to fold some shirts or thick shower towels and use them as a buffer. Would hardly feel ANY vibrations if you use enough after you nail holes for each bolt.

NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!! IFyou really think that's necessary....then you need to cut the engine plate off, put the isolaters between the engine plate and the frame with bolts, and keep the engine mounted the way it is. Putting SHEET between your engine and mount only causes frequent chain loosening!!!!!

There is one material you CAN use to do this with that works: plywood.

No, No, No rubber isolation pads, no rubber biscuts, no rubber of any kind. What I have seen work though is 3/4 or thicker plywood, Not chip board, not pressed wood regular old plywood.
Do not stuff rags or anything else under the engine please that guy is an Idiot!

I found out turning the engine off is the best way EVER
to reduce vibration.:roflol:

But hey I am sure there might be even be some members here that like the vibration they feel.

:backtotopic:
Can you weld? If so than try like I said originally. If you can't well try fhe wood thing.

I might just bare with it until I do my gx390 swap and just get a thicker motor mount plate welded on the bike instead of the thin one that's on there already
