I usually take what sellers say with a heaping serving of salt, that way I can't be too mad about it. Something like this would do better with a CVT and not a clutch. Are you trying to just resell it as is at this point? I'd probably sell it for as much as you bought it to break even.

Not trying to sell it. I’ll put work and money to get it working just want to make sure it’s worth it.

I figure I’ll still be under $300 into it after putting in a new motor.

I had a productive day. Got the clutch on the Tecumseh. Required some filing of the key as it was too wide for the shaft notch. I then moved the engine over a couple of inches and was able to get the sprockets to line up and chain installed.

Nothing has been tested yet as I was also working on getting driver seat installed.

Knowing I have to install the seats on the frame and now get a motor setup added what would you all say a good price for this kart is? Help me know if I still picked it up for a good price$

Without knowing what you paid for it or what you've put into it, it's hard to say.... it looks like a decent kart in decent shape and let's face it, they're not cheap to buy! If you're into it for $500 or less then I think you're doing great! If you're into it for 6-7 hundred you're still doing alright if it's as solid as it looks. Karts like that go for over a grand new (around here anyways).

Glad you're making progress though, soon it will be time to test and tune!

I picked it up for $150 and so far I’ve got another $50-60 in for chain, clutch, inner tube and some bolts for seats.

Thanks the first run went ok but I’m thinking I need to perhaps do an engine swap to get better gearing. I feel better now knowing I’m not upside down on this thing. My gut was telling me I’m good, but good to hear from someone else. I’ve been searching for weeks and seems like no one is letting go of their karts during the pandemic.

I'm kind of surprised seeing as some may need extra cash fast. But at the same time, people are bored, so running a kart or buggy around can get rid of the boredom. Plus, not socializing with strangers is a must, so there's that.
