So I'm considering swapping out my old 5 hp Tecumseh engine on my go kart for something a bit faster and more reliable. I just don't have the time to sit there and get her running every time I want a joy ride. Any suggestions on a good replacement engine?

Predator 212cc from harbor freight. They are 6.5 hp and you can easily get them for under $100. Most people with karts around here use them. They are reliable, easy to modify, and cost a fraction of a Honda gx engine.

What is the kart in question? Typically they can be a drop in part.... but depend on how things are setup... Ex. gas tank might be in the way ect...

Pics??

Boy what excitement it wouldve been when I was a kid and had a 5hp tecumseh knowing I could replace it with a 212 predator. I hated that engine. Eventually I found a good 8hp briggs. Talk about night and day.

Yep, McKutzy is right. The bolt holes are supposed to be identical between engines but may not fit because a frame rail, seat back or some other thing is in the way.

I'm also gonna have to demand pics from you, otherwise continuing guesswork is practically worthless. :p

Buy two Predators and call me in the morning.
Seriously Just Buy a Predator 212cc.
If you start another thread asking the same thing, I will still tell you to buy a Predator.
Give in! Submit! BUY A PREDATOR!!!!!!!

This, along with a sacrificial offering of a Tecumseh engine, will make the Predator gods happy.

And for the love of karting, some dmn pictures man.
