I am trying to wire a Kill switch to my 6.5 hp predator and now whenever i go to start the engine it makes a really loud scary squealing sound and then shuts off. It does this regardless of the new kill switch (attached or not). It has oil, gas, everything I can imagine

It could have something to do with the recoil starter getting stuck for some reason. I have a small Briggs engine where the recoil got stuck and it made a loud noise as well.

I would probably try to take the cover of to see if there is anything that looks wrong or broken, it could also be another problem. But its up to you if you want to go get a replacement.

If its under warranty I would just return it. You paid for a working product. You shouldnt have to mess with it. Save that time for when it is no longer under warranty.

Are you sure you keep getting new ones and not other returns. I havent heard of anyone getting 3 bad ones in a row.
Are you using it fresh out of box or are you opening any part of it ?

That happened to me several times....
It was the gap between armature and fly wheel( was to little). On my Briggs OHV the gap is suppose be be 0.10" I believe.

Or maye some piece f scrap metal might be stuck to fly wheel magnet.

Or

if it has a Centrifigal clutch make sure it properly oil.....

Just suggestion.....

How did you connect the kill switch, did you remove anything?

Predator & B&S are totally different engines; if your B&S is squealing, it's probably due to lack of lube in the starter clutch...

Too bad Tecumseh went out of business before they could copy a Briggs carb........

Actually new Briggs OHV carbs are pretty much a copy of Tecumseh also. They didn't even copy the good adjustable ones - they copied the crappy non adjustable ones! :roflol:

I present the evidence! -lol

I connected the kill switch to where the low oil sensor wire would plug in. So I would have use of both kill switches. The engine squeals and then just shuts off. I wonder if it does actually have to do with the kill switch. It did it though even when the kill switch was disconnected. It did it when I first got it, then it stopped for a week or so and now again.
