engine shuts off when throttle is moved up

Go Cart shuts off when move throttle upMy go kart doesn't really start. If I put it on low throttle it will start but soon as I move the throttle up the go kart shuts off. Any ideas

Try again with choke partially applied.

Is it the idle screw or a screw with the throttle mech? (there is a few)

It sounds like the carb is blocked, give the jets a clean then wipe the spark plug and give it another try, should sort it. ......( do this after screw replacement on throttle if it isn't fixed )

And as to the screw if it's on the throttle then it needs to be about 2 turns in to keep the engine running, otherwise it will cut out,

If it's on / in the carb then that's the mix screw , without it the engine will run rich, wich isn't good for the engine.

The black screw is there the screw wkth the sharp point fell out

If it came from the side of the Carb then that would be the mixture screw and would need fixing , what color is your spark plug? I've got a feeling that it will be black and wet indicating that the mix is way too rich.
Fix/ replace screw , turn it all the way in till it's lightly seated then turn it 1 & 1/2 turns out and go from there, couldn't hurt cleaning the Carb and jets too just to make sure.

Its not the big screw its the screw that has the sharp tip which is usually gold. Would that missing cause the engine to not stay on ?

it sounds like the mixture screw, assuming we are not talking about a self tapper holding the throttle cable

do what Russ said but i doubt it will start with a piece like that missing

Sound to me like the jet may be blocked but, could also be the mixture screw
