That's almost what a healthy spark plug should look like; almost because it's a bit dark, which means you're running a tad rich. Clean up the plug on a wire wheel, stick it back in & wind in the mixture screw a bit

Never heard of them...

You can't really mess up a spark plug (on a manufacturing level I mean) so, I don't see it making a lot of difference but, if you prefer NGK then go for it

Not that I prefer them but I was researching cross ref for the plug and many people said that plug was junk. Most suggested ngk and that was the plug I found and was available any my local auto parts store. It's only $3 so I might get one just for sh*ts and grins.

So I partly took the carb apart and sprayed it with carb cleaner. I also changed the oil. It starts right up and after about 5-10 min of warming up your could hear it kick over to wanting to run like the choke disengaged. I think I am on the right path and will test it out this weekend. Then will install the torque converter next week.

So I just wanted to wrap this up for anyone that may come across this. Today I installed the torque converter. It made a world of a difference. I also ended up replacing the subframe since it had previously been cracked and rewarded. After installing the torqu converter it no longer takes 10 min to "warm up". Obviously I let it warm up but it doesn't seem to have the two modes like it had in the past.

Next challenge, upgrade the suspension!

I am glad you got it sorted
