I have a question about mounting this engine. If I use the existing holes in the mounting plate, the clutch sticks out too far with the spacer on it. Is it better to take off the spacer and use existing mounting holes or leave the spacer and drill new mounting holes? Any down side to either option?

I watched school house rock in the 70's ....conjunction junction was the best... I always had a thang for trains. Momma said she thought it was dangerous to ride my karts by the R&R tracks... She never said nothen bout riding on them....

My grandpa had a big dairy farm when I was a kid, the railroad ran right through it. In this part of the country we have lots of hills and very rocky ground so the were "canyons" blasted out of the mountians. We got busted swinging out over a train on a grape vine once. Once was all it took.
When us kids heard that a penny could derail a train we spent a lot of time lining up pennies on the tracks trying to cause a train wreck, looking back on it that may have been an "antler glue" situation. Try as we might we could never derail a train with pennies.

If pennies could derail a train, think of the hundreds of wrecks there would be every day.

Swinging on a grape vine....sounds like fun lol..actually a penny does derail a train...it lifts it off the rail, so in fact, I guess a penny does derail a train...just not in the grand fashion you wanted to see.

I was out with a guy I do work with by a rail line. We were sitting in the truck having lunch when I heard the whistle. I asked if he ever squished coins. He replied that he hadn't. I grabbed some change he had in the cup holder and ran to the track to place them. I brought back his momentos afterwards. He was quite amazed at the shiney spinners he had aquired. I was amazed that he had never done that before.
