Ok, so i have grown up (i am 13) in a family where engines aren't a huge part of life. I am trying to get to 50-60mph. What engines mods could i do? If you have any suggestions, please note that i am not a gearhead and can't understand all the parts and pieces that make up these engines. If you have any engine and engine mod suggestions, let me know!

First thing would be to decide on what engine you're gonna use or what is available to you. You could read about lots of mods for different engines, but what you're gonna end up doing depends on what you can get your hands on. I guess the 5HP briggs seem to be very common and lots of mods can be done to those.

*EDIT* wtf my post got dismembered

What I said was that to get an engine to go 50-60mph you need some sort of gearing arrangement. Whether it be torque converter (boring automatic), or gears like from a bike engine. It would be cheaper in the long run to buy a motorbike engine than to hot up a briggs or similar and add a torque convertor, not to mention more fun and powerful.

yeah, but you'll have the crappiest acceleration ever, and I think acceleration is what makes a kart fun to drive. learn basics first
