engine governor problems

i recently took apart my briggs and stratton go cart engine when i did i also took off all the governor parts now when i start it revs up an keeps accelerating an i have no way to control the speed. any help:confused:

try ajusting the idol screw to ajust the pace of the speed it revs at if im right the more you screw it in the higher it revs and if you unscrew it it turns it down put it on a ramp so wheels are above level then play about with the idol screw in or owt

sounds like its Idling too fast because you need to hook up up a small spring that will pull your carbs little throttle arm (the bell-crank) back to the idle position. The governor linkage you removed probably had a spring somewhere that served this function, so now you'll just need to install a return spring right at the carb.

engines with governors do not have a return spring the force of the weights in the governor make it return to idle the gov only has one spring connecting the gov arm to the throttle cable or lever

ok thanks i will try that tommorow and get c how it works out (i will also post some pictures)

you don't want a idle return spring on an engine with a gov it won't work right you probably just need to loosen the gov spring

1 problem my throttle is on the other side of the engine
