My new Predator 212 engine will not keep going at wot or even 3/4 throttle. I broke it in, then replaced the oil. It only has about 4 total hours on it. At first, after break in, it ran full blast.
I am running fresh gas in it and have checked the oil level. The fuel tank was 1/4 full and I thought that the velocity was sloshing the gas around too much so it is now about 3/4 full and it is still cutting out.
What's weird is it will run strong at wot to the top end, then it starts cutting out for 2-3 second intervals before it picks up. It's almost like a temporary vapor lock, but the tank is vented.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm almost sure you already checked, but just to rule it out:

Please check the low oil sensor cables not shorting out.

I had to exchange out this engine. A bolt connecting the body of the engine sheared off leaving some of the bolt in the hole.
Now I am back to breaking in a new engine. I'll have to see if this one has the same issue.

Probably got something to do with the fact that I don't think it is installed with snap ring pliers, and not intended to come off. A good yank on the gear usually unseats the ring.
