engine cutin out

i have a tecumseh 6.0 on a yerf dog kart. I just got it and i was racin around at my buddys track, and after 2 laps it would not go. It idles, but when you hit the gas it boggs down. I let it cool down and it would run again for a few laps then the same thing happens. i was going to drain the gas and put a new plug in. could it be something else? I have a exhause, k&n, and filter adapter coming mon. also the oil level is good

sounds like its running lean, especially with a custom intake and exhaust, time to do drill out the jets a little.

Sounds to me like the bowl in the carb is filling up slow and then you're draining it when running it hard and when you let it sit it's slowly filling back up again. Check for a drug in the carb and/or fuel line.
