Hello guys, I have a new 6.5 hp predator (honda clone) that dies when opening the choke, can only open it half way , I removed the plastic cover that holds the filter but the filter is still in place, my first thought was rejeting higher but, its probably a low rpm adjustment in the carb, help please

I know it is new, but there could be some dirt stuck in the carb. A carb cleaning might help

Seeing that it is new, why don't you just return it and get a new one

I agree on both counts. Dying without choking is a sure sign that it's not getting enough fuel for whatever reason. Unfortunately the only place I've seen one of these engines is in a HF circular. If it has a fuel shut-off valve at the tank I would suspect that first.

Again, return it if you can. Post back if you can't.

I bought this engine about a year ago so returning it its probably out of the question.

Aaah; usually, when someone refers to something as "new" it means "purchased recently", that's where we were confused. If we'd know you bought it a year ago, we wouldn't have made that suggestion...

Thanks, I will clean the carb tomorrow and let you know

It may just be a bit of grit in the main jet or emulsion tube but, just in case, have a look at this thread

Welcome to the forum, Joey. We would encourage you to start your own thread, rather than "jack" someone else's. When you DO, take and post a couple pictures of your carb, and we'll see what we can do to get you sorted out.
