engine behind axle?

My twins kart has engines mounted to rear of axle. No issues.

You should be fine. Just add some weight to the front

it wouldnt be far behind the axle if i move it i just am trying to fit a seat in limited space and dont want it leaning on the engine so if i had to i was thinking about moving it back a tad.

Nah, no safety concern. If anything,moving the weight bias a bit forward may improve steering.

Placing the engine behind the axle moves the centre of gravity dramatically. Moving the engine 4" (from 2" in front of the axle to 2" behind the axle) can shift the centre of gravity around 2' towards the rear (depending on the overall dimensions of the kart) therefore making the front end lighter
