new to go karts .. couple of ?'s

This frame is for Kids from what I understand.

1. Is it just to small for lets say 6'1" 180 lb adult? Will not race it or add a insane motor if this makes a diff.

2. The frame I was told brand new is 2500.00 he wants to sell it for seriously under this price ( no motor)

3. is it just to small for adults, i see other go karts that are small with adults riding them?

4. Emmick... who builds these frames.. emmick? I google it and all i get is dealers not MFG...:mad2:

Cadet race karts are the middle size between Kid karts and the adult models. Even though Cadets are smaller, you still might find you have more leg room than many (rear engine) fun/yard type karts because the side mounted engine allows the seat to be mounted further back. At your height and weight, I'd strongly suggest buying an adult sized kart instead unless you can buy this one really cheap and resell it at a profit.

Here's Emmick's site:
http://www.emmick.com/

That Emmick site doesnt seem to be listing any model dimensions but this Coyote kart site has some measurements you could use to get an idea of how much smaller your Cadet might be than an Adult model:http://www.foxvalleykart.com/coyote.html
(most all modern race karts brands build simalar sized karts to comply with kart racing association rules...)

I asked if he would update the image. He had originally posted a brand new Immick frame that is shown on the emmick web site..
I will say he did not say it was brand new but rather what I had described in my previous email.... So this is what he sent me... looks prety cool and he did say i should have no problem riding this thing...:auto:

Hey good looking Sprint kart, someone added a Front Porch kit to that. A front Porch is an extra-long front bumper with a second set of pedal mounts located further out, they're made for tall drivers like you!

I cant tell for sure from the pic but that chassis kinda looks like an adult size instead of a Cadet kart. Either way, If you move those pedals to the forward position and instal a floor pan in that Front porch I think you'll probably fit fine in that kart.

From the curent axle sprocket location, it looks like it had a right hand drive 2-stroke engine on it before. (probably a Comer or KT100) I'm not sure of what engine you want to instal but just be aware that some 2-stroke race frames have seat mounts, support brackets and/or axle 3rd bearing mounts in the way of easly instaling an engine with the PTO shaft on the normal/left side. (like a Briggs or clone motor has) If you can get some good pics of the back of the kart, I might be able to tell if you should expect any trouble with this or not.

Race karts drop in value quickly with age, so definitely find out what year it is and also let us know how much he's asking for it. (just from the pic, I think its probably worth somewhere in the $300 to $500 range unless its a 2005 or newer kart)

ps:
See if you can get him to include a motor mount that fits the engine you want to run. (they usualy cost between $40 and $100 if you had to buy a new one...)

Gracias! ur pretty knowdgeable and very helpful!

I know about just above 0.00 .. just getting into carts and WOW so much info and stuff to just learn!

He wanted $400.00 but then said that some one offerd $300.00
Im gonna offer $275.00 cash in hand maybe 300.00 if he plays hard ball..maybe
so you think its worth around 300-500 if yr is right?

Im going to ask about the year of the frame.. def. not 2009 LOL
but I like you think it looks preety good... 300.00 + im not sure

Engine: No engine - - I was thinking of adding a blue or yellow clone 6.5 and then maybe modding it... :stir:
Only pic I have is the one I posted so I dont know what the rear looks like. I can weld so if I had too I'd add some kind of mount but would prefer not to disturb the frame ( keep original)

Ahhh, bummer. Keep looking man, our Bushed economy is forcing lots of racers to quickly unload their karts at bargain prices right now. I've seen some trully amazing deals on my local craigslist lately, many sold within an hour or 2 of the ad being posted... So it helps to do some research on the more popular race kart brands in advance, have your cash all ready and then be quick to pounce on those deals before someone else beats ya to it.
