When I post a topic I see it set at weekly notification to replies. Where do I go to change it to always be instant notification to replies?

What you do is click on the Quick Links link just under your name top right of your screen. Then click on the Edit Options link. This will take you to a page where one of the options is for "Default Thread Subscription Mode". You can set your preference here

I too would recommend to set it to "do not subscribe"

if you post a thread where it's IMPORTANT for you to get a notification ore ven reply to an existing one, you can always set a subscription on the bottom of the "new thread" & "new reply" page (before you send it)
that way your inbox doesn't fill up with nonsense.
