Electronic Carburettor Adjuster

I saw this video of a man who made an electronic carburettor adjuster. The main use of this thing was to switch the settings to full rich and to lean instantly to assist the driver on the track?

1) How useful do you think this is ?

2) Does anyone know how to make it or one? The individual has said he would email the instructions in the video but mentions no email ... Da da dum

I don't know what exactly is being adjusted. Jet size? Doing so many adjustments could really damage the engine if the limits of lean and rich are unknown. Flow over the carburetor is also questionable.
On the other hand, it seems that pro kart racers are after jet adjustments every time they hit the track. This could save some time in testing. I would not want to keep track of all the buttons in a race though!! If anything, fuel injection with a fuel/oxygen ratio feedback is the best way to go (regulation permitting).

That's not full rich or full lean. It's somewhere in between, and it allows him to find the sweet spot on the fly.

How do these work actually?

Do you attach them to the knobs on the carb?

Are they expensive?

My kart has Allen head set screws to clamp the cable to the couplings, and roll pins pressed through a hole drilled in the carbs adjuster screw heads:

That's a 357cc. engine that Tecumseh Motorsport division made just for kart racing, Its called the Star. They only made 1000 of them and were sold as an unassembled kit including a tuned 3-stage Header and Methanol carb Tillotson designed especially for this engine.

Its loosely based on Tecumseh's 10hp/OH100 model, but came with a stronger/lighter block as well as larger valves/race cam/much-higher compression/forged rod, no-govenor, etcetera. They had around 16hp @ 7000rpm, but could be blueprinted/modded up into to the 40hp range.

You can still find these used/running engines selling in the $300-$500 range. I bought 2 of them for $500 and have won a lot of races against guys that had invested $1500+ into their Honda/Briggs racekart engines.
