I dunno if this would fall under General Discussion or Electric Projects but I'd think it'd be nice to have a thread section that's strictly electrical troubleshooting such as wiring, lighting, ignition systems and safety systems. Just to keep things a bit organized and make it so it's easier for people to find advice rather than keep starting new threads.

well.. if it's the ignition it's the engine section, if it's lights (but not alternator) general.. and if you talk about an electric motor as opposed to a combustion engine... then it's the electric projects.

As you can see there is no one forum regarding these questions.
forcing them into one would make a huge mess.

Think about this general but common question:
"Engine won't stay running..."
several things check-worthy.. one of these things IS the ignition system and the wiring (no matter how little that might be)
If that's the cause in the end it should be moved in said section...
Another similar thread
"Engine dies after a few minutes" again checks all (incl wiring) and it happens to be a faulty carb.
so similar threads.. different cause.. different sections??
If only there were an engine section ;)

Most of the time an issue (any issue) cannot be identified as an electrical problem at first sight,
and sometimes it's even a multitude of issues (one of wich might be again electrical)
Say the low oil sensor is faulty and the carb is clogged...
we'd turn in circles all day trying to figure out where to post a question.

Right, "electric" section is electric motors rather than gas engines. Wiring issues for the power plant should go in the right section. For general wiring -- Headlights, etc, put it wherever.

If you want to be industrious and pull together some good threads, maybe we can get a bunch and then put it in the FAQ section!
