Ok hi there. Plan is to make very small garden tractor with max speed of 5mph.

Sooo...can I use

for rear axle

-two brush 36 V 350W 3000rpm china motors, each of them coupled to 1:28 gearboxes and then direct to rear wheels?
- two separate controllers for each motor with common throttle?
- to add steering potentiometer on steering column, who can add resistance to throttle on one of the motors, respectively when you turn the steering wheel in another direction, to add resistance on e-throttle of other motor...idea is to simulate car differential?
- how to make quick revers...back/forwoard?

Best Regards

Hi Andrey why dont you use an old people's electric mobility scooter transaxle (500watt). On the output shafts have a 2:1 sprocket reduction to the wheels should be quite torquey and would be cheap enough.

Hi, for your application you need this controller: https://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/sabertooth2x60

I use these quite often for differential drives. I recommend that you not use those motors though. Use wheel chair motors instead. Like: http://www.superdroidrobots.com/shop/category.aspx/wheel-chair-motors/131/

Also, is this tractor being used for real work or just to move kids around?? May need to change my recommendations then.

Thanx for advice

All my garden tools are electrical chainsaw, mower etc. I use them only during summer and not very often. Idea was to spare me spring maintenance (petrol engines don't like to sit half year without usage).

PAst 10 years, winters here (Bulgaria) are not very 'snowy' sooo...little tractor with plow will be needed.

Requirements are 20 min of work plowing snow...at very low speed.

About differential

Small a tractor have relative small wheelbase and steering will be not problem even without diff....solid rear axle. But this will 'kill' grass in small radius turns. Adding diff solve this problem, but traction in muddy conditions is affected.

Soooo if you able to control speed of two motors thru steering wheel angle...is badass solution for active differential.....coool

I'm just not sure if wheelchair motors will be enough if you plan to use this as a tool for cutting grass. I'm worried about thermal issues on the motors since great resistance well be against them through pushing over tall grass and going up hilly terrains. I know of some electric wheelchair types that can handle up to 180Kg of mass. So you might be okay..

I have seen those poor ones at Walmart carry 5 or 600 HUNDRED pound people  who are too Fat and Lazy to walk and shop. Those type of motors seem like they would be strong enough to push a little snow.
