electric pocket rocket?

so i have the opportunity to buy a little yamaha pocket rocket for 25 bucks- the engine is messed up or something- might be able to fix it...but if Not- what do y'all think about switching it over to electric power? i'm a newbie, but starting an electronics program at the vo-tech in the fall- so theoretically i'll know more soon. anyway, i have a garage full of projects, but that never seems to stop me! i have a 12v kids ride on toy i was going to rip apart to make a go kart- should i stick with that, or could i use that motor for powering the pocket rocket? or would i want to get a different motor set up for it altogether? if i buy it now, maybe i could build it as a homework assignment .
anyway, just lookin for advice- love the site and all y'all do. thanks, nay nay

well, what i would say is buy it and make it gas powerd
just because thats what i prefer, theres no charging, no zaping and no awsome engine sounds :biggrin5:

but if you have a good motor, batarys ect. and the engine does not run
that would be fun

now i'm worried that my 9 year old would end up getting hurt- it's mostly for him, and apparently they are intended for adults. soo..as hard as it is for me to pass up a bargain, i think i'm gonna focus on the go kart....after i finish the tree fort.... man am i tired- who woullda thought i'd need a vacation while i am on unemployment....

i just dont like electricity
i've only been shocked a couple of times but they were 120v shocks
its just not my thing
you shouldnt have a problem with your kid getting shocked
its just when your puting all the wireing in is where you may get a jolt
also i dont like having to recharge them

well when your doing the wireing dont have the battery hooked up
