Hello,

Do you think this motor:

Is strong enough for pulling this go kart:

Why do you want to change from the briggs. The motor you have there is for gopeds and scooters and wont have half as much power

Electric motor that you've posted above is (kind of) for very small children in terms of performance - briggs is a lot more powerful. If you want to go electric with same(or better) performance as briggs , it is a more costly solution (probably 48 V motor , 50 + Amps, and a matching controller). However , with electric setup (assuming the same power as briggs) , you'll get more torque , therefore , better fun (but for shorter period of time , depending on batteries you use).

You need to use a series-wound DC motor or a SEP-EX DC motor (but you got to know the field map for those motors).

Mine is 72 volts and goes 0-52 MPH in about 4 seconds and lasts for 30 minutes under 100% abuse. Of course I spent stupid amounts of dough on mine. The total costs is about $3000.

For your setup I would go with a 36-48 volt system and use this series wound motor: http://www.evparts.com/prod-MT2111.htm

Or if too expensive then a PM motor (which I hate PM motors...): http://www.evparts.com/prod-MT5227.htm

For controller you will need this: http://www.evparts.com/prod-CT1947.htm
