So, electric guru's

I want to motorize my bead rolling machine on the cheap side, but be reliable 120v or 12v even

Kits cost $400+

YouTube diy users have used variable speed drills, garage door openers, 4-1/2 angle grinders etc as well as $!$120v motors "they just happen to have"

Yesterday I found a video where the guy was at a junk electronics store and bought 3 1974 stepper type motors

So is there something like this available? Inder say $50?

I can machine adapters etc, just low rpm so I can gear it lower, and reverse capable eould be cool, I just dont want to spend more that it cost. Doesn't need a ton of power using gearing

Couple of ideas for what its worth. I rescued some linear actuators that were on a hospital bed a few years ago that I just checked the RPMs on. They are reversable, but not variable speed unless you add a foot pedal like for a sewing machine (?). These are powerful with gear reduction but the output srill turns at 150 RPM and may need to be slowed some more.

Also, what about a 12v DC starter motor ? May be able to use a PWM controller to cut the duty cycle and make it variable speed. Not sure of the speed of a starter though.

Do you have specs for the RPM of the bead roller motor kit ?

Let me know if the 150 RPM AC motor will work and I can send you one.

I watched some YT vids and saw a couple of variable speed drill conversions. That seems to be the way to go.

They typically have a 1/2" HF drill driving a starter pinion from a car engine meshed with a flex plate mounted to the bead roller for gear reduction.
