Hi all, newbie here. Been sniffing around the threads and had my eye on the Spidercarts Granddaddy due to the 2 seats, cage, and off road capabilities. Ready to buy the plans once I get some questions answered for everything else outside the plans. I want this to be running with an electric motor and needs to haul 2 adults (total of ~400lbs) in case my friends get on it. But mainly just my family which is about 300lbs total for 2 adults. My kids are young and weigh under 50 lbs each. Please let me know what you recommend. Seems like all the Granddaddy builds are running Predator gas engines and I don't want my kids to have to hear that. I will most likely be running lithium batteries to reduce weight and better power output down to 20%. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. I still want to have fun (lots of horse power) but not too crazy.

I think the Granddaddy is already heavy. Add some passengers and batteries and it is going to be really Heavy. If you want to drive 4.5 hrs, you can buy my Granddaddy.

I don't know much about electric motors, but a heavy buggy with multiple passengers will probably a require fairly large motor(s ) and lots of batteries if you want to be able to travel at "fun speed".
90kg sounds soo much nicer than 200lbs *giggle*
Anyways, yes we talk about 4.5kW aroundish for a heavy kart with two passengers at fun speeds on light off road tracks.
And to feed that power you'll need ~ another 200lbs in batteries (lead acid)
or 200lbs in coin dollars to pay for 60lbs of lithium cells of similar capacity
Not sure that make much sense tbh (weight or price is insane let's say)

Was keeping an eye on it since it’s Easter holiday, but there are 3 listings with 3 different item #’s. Looks like 69737 is for California sale, but can’t see the difference between the other 2 (60340 & 60349). And just out of curiosity, looked at the next step up motor (670cc) and the price doubled.. ouch. Seems like always a 20-25% off coupon every month.

Get your kids some earplugs. 
For electric I would look for an off road kart or old honda odessy on craigslist. Get a Sabvoton SVMC072150 Controller, Motenergy ME0201014201 Motor and enough R/C lipo 4S 25c+ batteries to run 20ah 72volts. You will also want the smallest motor sprocket you can use and the largest axle sprocket you can fit. And if you are lucky you will get 20-30minutes of run time.
