Hi all making slow but steady progress on the planning and gathering materials of my cooler cart...Just a motor question

This is a motor I'm looking at and I quote

"THIS ENGINE IS DESINGED FOR 300-500 WATT ELECTRIC SCOOTERS BUT CAN BE FABRICATED TO FIT MANY OTHER MODELS BY SUNL, ROKETA, KAZUMA, AND MANY, MANY MORE."
and is chain drive

Is it worth a crap?

I was told it is a 24 volt motor but dont understand what the watt range means, it says 300-500..

Why would it range from 300 to 500 watt if its 24 volt?

here are some pics of it and was also wondering what kind of speeds I might hit..I dont want to break any land speed records but I dont want to be riding a snail either...Any help would be awesome..

Thanks

Amps (x) volts = watts
746 watts = 1hp

So its rated to run a max of 24v 20.8a, that doesnt mean you cant run more, but im not an electronics expert so i wouldnt know how much more you could run before it burns up.

How much is it? I *think* that a brushed motor like that is probably only around 60% efficient unless it is a very good motor. A brushless motor might push up into the 90% area. When you talk 300-500W that's Watts IN. You're probably only getting 180-300 Watts OUT.

your pics shows a 300-350w motor... 500w ones doesnt have a mounting bracket under them... what are the size of your wheels... i got 6" on my electric beercase and i'm geared pretty low, i can hit 25 kmh (but i always pop wheelies(1000w motor))

Im building a trike style...Welding chrome moly to a bicycle trike rear housing....I want to run the motor to the sprocket I get with the axle....I just dont know if I'm wasting time and money with all the electronics I have to buy to use that motor...Its pretty cheap price for a motor but I also dont want to be able to walk faster than the cart...If I could find a small gas motor and clutch "cheap" I would go for that but again I'm a first time builder and dont know how to tie the two together..I built a mototrized bike last year but dont want one of the chinese engines on it cuz they are too loud...Oh to answer your question I will have 16' wheels on the rear of the trike...Does anyone know if there is a good resource to wiring a spped control unit ?

go to www.tncscooters.com look for controllers ... some of them have a wiring guide... and 16" wheels! you'll need a ****in big sprocket... might even need a jackshaft... i would suggest getting the biggest #25 sprocket you can find ... or smaller wheels

Yeah I wasnt getting a ton of info anyway....I ended up finding a motor thats geared down for a bicycle....So I guess that will work instead of a sprocket the size of a buzz saw blade LOL !
