Hi everyone. I have started a journey to convert my black widow gas powered go kart to electric.
Can you guys help me pick out components for this setup?
What I am looking to do.
1. Drive the kids around the yard and in the woods behind the house. Dirt trails with a couple slightly steep inclines.
2. Same top speed as it current has (roughly) ! 20ish mph
3. Have a good runtime that lets us get out in the woods and drive for a while and come back. I am hoping for 1 hour, but also don't want 20 batteries to do this.
4. Budget: around $500, but flexible.
Karts current setup:
1. 16" tires
2. 4.1 HP @ 3500 RPM
3. 60 tooth axle sprocket
4. #420 chain
5. 16x8x7 rear wheels
6. ~300 lbs kart weight
7. ~200 additional weight with me and the kids
Parts I am thinking of/need advice on.
1. Motor: I want something that can propel us and have some room to spare.
2. Controller: I would prefer one that is programmable so I can program power limits and other factors. Not necessarily if these are too expensive or not readily available.
3. batteries: SLA, whatever voltage needed for motor I get along with capacity needed.
4. foot pedal: https://electricscooterparts.com/throttlesstandard.html#cablepullhrottle - hopefully reuse the current pedal on the cart.
5. reuse the kill switch for controller on off.
What else do I need?
Wires
Fuse
Terminal block
Volt meter
reverse switch? or is this built into controller?
Thanks for any help you guys can give me in helping this project come together.
