One 48v brushless motor will have this going 30mph.

How do you figure that? :huh:

A while back I tested a 1,000W brushed motor & also a 1,800W brushless motor on e-Lemon-aid
…& I didn't really notice that much of a difference in power

IMO no where near double or twice the power :ack2:
…& 48V can/will only create so many RPM's

IIRC it's usually in the ~70 RPM's per volt range (brushed or brushless) :cheers2:

Up the voltage to about 52v and the brushless motor has enough power to propel just over 300lbs to 30mph with proper gearing. 54v would also work using four 12v batteries and one 6 volt in series.

Here's 26mph with on 48v and a 210lb rider. 30 is obtainable at 48v with a lighter rider and gearing change. 30 may even be obtainable with the heavier rider.

The (4) 12V 12AH SLA's on ElMini are ~54V when fully charged :thumbsup:
…& 21MPH is the top speed, that I "documented", using a GPS :2guns:

Adding an 'oddball cell" to a battery pack (a 6V to a set of 12V's)
...just makes for an unbalanced/hard to charge pack :huh:

IMO OK to play/experiment with
…but, not a good/long term plan/design :cheers2:

...he didn't show it in action (at any speed)
…&/or what "instrument" he used to "test" the speed? (says he used a GPS) :rolleyes:

That's fine. I GPS'd my Razor Dune Buggy at 34mph but I was running over 60v (16s lithium) through the 48v motor. I still had plenty of torque for getting up the grades in my neighborhood. With the same gearing I was going high 20s on 14s.

I have to slow for turns in this tiny kart.
